Did you know that moving is known to be one of the most stressful tasks in life? If you have ever relocated previously, you probably already know this. After all, most people have had terrible experiences with moving and so they know just how stressful it is. When it comes to moving certain items, it can be particularly difficult. This is definitely the case with moving furniture. Whether you want to transport it because you are relocating to a new home or you own a business that sells furniture, you need to ensure it arrives to its new destination safely without any issues.
If you do not have a great deal of experience in moving, consider following these easy and basic steps on how to move your own furniture.
1. Prepare
First of all, you need to get prepared. Like anything involved with moving, preparation is absolutely vital and you must make sure it is done properly in order for your move to be easy. Therefore, prepare and plan before you actually move a thing. Make sure you know which company will be coming to collect your furniture. Obviously you will need to hire a company for it or a man and van service. If you are doing it yourself, make sure you know what time you will be arriving and so forth to collect the furniture.
2. Disassemble
If you want to save money, the best way to do that in the jargon of moving is to safe space. This means getting your items down to a confined space so that they do not take up to much room. The way to do this with furniture is by disassembling. Of all the items one can transport, furniture is the most space draining item. In order to cut down on space, disassemble the furniture that can be disassembled and then you will save so much space. If you don’t know how to do it, watch an instructive video or ask a friend or family member for help. So instead of taking a full bed frame with you a huge wardrobe, there might be a chance you can disassemble and make it much smaller.
3. Pack and label
For the furniture that has been disassembled, place the parts for each piece of furniture into a separate box. Make sure all the bits and bobs are packed into boxes. If any piece is missing, you might not be able to put it back up again. So you need to check everything is in the box of course. Then you need to label each box. It would be very confusing if not because all there will be is parts in each box. As for the furniture that cannot be disassembled, it must be packed well to avoid damage. You do not want anything getting scratched up or dented or anything whilst in transit. When moving, it is a major pet hate of getting damaged and dented furniture. However, when travelling so far, it is quite risky unless one packs each piece very well.
Moving furniture can be a little tricky but with the right method, it can be done – and it can be done well. As long as you prepare, disassemble your furniture to save space, and then pack and label, you can move furniture without much trouble at all. It is understandable that moving is difficult. If you are moving house, you don’t want the added stress of damaged furniture. Plus, you don’t want it to cost you a fortune either. Follow these steps and you’ll be on the right path.
