Everybody knows how difficult moving is. It’s known to be one of the most stressful tasks you will endure during your lifetime. Moving house or moving to a new office isn’t just a case of packing up all your belongings and moving away. There is so much more to it than that. For that reason, you need to know exactly how to prepare your move and get ready for it so that it is easy and stress-free. Here are the five things you should do on moving day to remove the stress from your relocation.
1. Ask friends to look after the kids and pets
Moving, whilst stressful for you, is equally if not more stressful for your kids and your pets, if you have any. Your children are highly likely to get bored on removals day and they could end up making it a lot more stressful. The move will really need your attention on the day, which is why it’s a good idea to ask friends or family to look after them on the day of your move. The same goes for your pets. Moving is really stressful for them, as they don’t know what’s going on.
Plus, they need your attention and you won’t be able to give them much on the day.
2. Hand over keys
Obviously, you can’t forget this step. Don’t forget to hand over your keys to the new owners or the estate agent before you leave. It’s easier to do it there and then so you don’t forget and don’t have to run around the day after. It just saves so much hassle.
3. Start early
Your moving day is, quite honestly, going to be a long day. However, to make it extra smooth and simple, start early. Wake up early so you can start getting ready as soon as possible. As the old saying goes, the early bird catches the worm. If you want your move to run smoothly and you want to be as productive as possible, get up early and start getting working on it right away. This way, you will have plenty of time to do everything you need to.
4. Provide your removal company with details
When the removal van comes, that is if you are using a professional moving company, make sure you provide them with your contact details before they leave. This way, if they have any problems or if there are going to be any delays, they can call you. Or if they get lost, they can easily get in touch. And, obviously, don’t forget to give them the right address.
5. Don’t rush
It sounds like a simple step but this one of probably the most effective, actually. The truth is, nothing good comes out of rushing around. When you rush, mistakes emerge and the last thing you want on moving day is mistakes. Take things one step at a time and don’t panic. Go through your moving checklist and don’t hurry too much. Take things at your own pace. This will make things much smoother and when you don’t rush, your mind is a lot clearer.
Moving doesn’t have to be too chaotic. However, it pays to be organized and well prepared in advance. Organization is a key part of relocation. These helpful hints will help you to have a hassle-free move on the moving day. They are so simple and yet so effective. Follow them and you are guaranteed the easiest move.
