8 Tips To Stop Moving Day Stress

If your last house move was a complete and utter disaster then you might be having nightmares about how your next one is going to go. But if you prepare well in advance and get everything under control then there is no reason why your next house move shouldn’t go to plan.

Even if you don’t think that you’re as well prepared as you should be then there are still loads of things you can do on the day to stop your stress!

1. Set Your Alarm – Getting a good night’s sleep can really help you to deal with the stresses and strains of moving day. So getting to bed early should be top of your pre-moving day to-do list. However, don’t start your moving day on the back foot by waking up late; set your alarm to go off more than once, that way if you sleep through one there’s another one that’ll go off just a few minutes later!

2. Finish Off Any Last Minute Packing ASAP – Once you’re up, make sure you finish off any final bit of packing ASAP. Once the removal men have arrived, it is easy for things to snowball out of control. That is why you should try to get everything ready before they get there in order to feel less stressed out!

3. Label Your Boxes – While it may take a bit of time, labelling you’re boxes can save you from hours of searching when it comes to your unpacking. So don’t spend hours opening box after box in search of the teabags and kettle, just label everything clearly before it goes on the removal van and you’ll save yourself a whole load of hassle.

4. Give The Movers Clear Instructions – While you may think it’s obvious where you want things to go and what order you want things moved in, everyone is different. And that is why it is imperative that you give your moving men clear instructions about how you want things to go. There’s no point in complaining about the movers London leaving your sofa in the dining room, if they haven’t be told from the off where you want things and when.

5. Make Sure The Boxes Are Loaded Logically Onto The Van – If you want to make sure that your kitchen is one of the first rooms you unpack in your new home then it is important that these boxes are on one of the first moving van loads. Similarly, if there are less important items then make sure the removal company are aware so that they can include them on one of the last loads of the day.

6. Be Prepared For Any Last Minute Cleaning – While your house may look clean while you’re packing things up, you may find that there’s still little things that need to be done before you can finish up. That is why it is useful to keep some cleaning products to hand so that you’re prepared for any eventuality.

7. Have One Last Look Around – Even if you know you’ve packed everything up, it always pays to take one last look around. Check every corner, built-in cupboard, shed or loft room and that way you can be sure not to leave anything behind.

8. Tick Off Your Moving Checklist – Sometimes when we’re stressed out we can forget the simplest of things. That is why having a removals checklist can be useful on the day. So if you know there are things that you need to do before you leave, write them down and tick them off as you go.
