6 Steps To A Simple And Stress-Free Student Move

Did you know that moving is the most stressful task one can face in one’s lifetime? Indeed, it is a fact. For students, however, it is even more difficult and challenging. This is because most students are under a great deal of pressure as it is with exams and so forth. Attempting a move that is cost effective is only another stress. If you are eager for a stress-free and inexpensive student move, here are the top six tips you must follow in order for you to be free from stress and chaos.

Nobody wants a chaotic move and so if you are eager for a smooth one, here’s how.

1. Plan ahead
It can’t be emphasised enough the matter of planning ahead of your move. For some, this might be common sense. For others, it is a task often forgotten. Nevertheless, planning is a must for any move. For students, even more so. Make a plan and possibly a checklist of everything you need to do. This way, you will have something to follow and won’t have to rely on your memory alone.

2. A helping hand
Friends and family are usually always willing to help you. For any move, it requires more than one pair of hands. Ask them for some help and assure them you will do the same for them in return whenever they need. It will save you money and at least you know you can trust them.

3. Have a clearout
Before moving, remember to have a clearout. It’s unbelievable the amount of people who move and as soon as they get to their new home, they throw out a load of stuff, realizing they no longer need it. Why not do it the other way around and save money on space? It makes much more sense. Give it away to charity shops or to friends. Just don’t throw any of it away.

4. Packing materials on hand
Packing is an essential part of moving and it can also be an expensive task. To cut costs on packing materials, try getting used boxes and materials instead. Suppliers are always happy to give away their used boxes so it might be worth getting in touch with them and asking politely for free materials. It is also amazing what you can find lying about your home that would come in use for packing – socks, cardboard, old newspaper, etc.

5. Transit
Of course, in order to transport your items you are going to need a transportation vehicle. It depends largely on how much you have to move. If you only have a few bags and boxes and nothing major, ask a friend or family member to move it for you with their car. Offer to pay for their petrol and a little extra for doing it. However, if you have a large quantity of belongings, it might be worth you using a man and van service. This would be, without a doubt, the most cost effective service and it would be easy too.

6. A little a day
If it is a student move, it shouldn’t be too large. However, if you are finding it difficult to find the time to pack and so on, set yourself a small target of devoting ten minutes or so a day to your student removal. It will add up and you will see the excellent results. A little a day can bring out remarkable results instead of setting aside several full days in which you will be completely miserable and worn out.
